I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to that, I use the standard settings in the mapsforge utility to create the maps. I would suggest trying to find a Thailand map at another provider and see if that provides English translations? You can find a list of map providers here:
Hello, is it expected to see tourist routes visualized by color line? I have downloaded map of Romania and there are no routes visible in Locus.
Thanks.

Hello,
I use for my Android application Routes, your maps in Offline. I also have the possibility to install maps from OpenAndroMaps, could you explain the difference between these 2 types of maps?
Sorry for the slow reply. Because the maps are based on the same OpenStreetMap data I would expect that the maps themselves should be very similar. I think OpenAndroMaps offer some maps that I do not have the technical knowledge to produce so they may have options that are more suited for where you visit.
Also, OpenAndroMaps have developed their own rendering themes that can be used in certain apps to make the maps more suitable for e.g. hiking or mountain biking.
I hope this helps
Thanks
Ian
Hello. I was just wondering if there was a way to get a .map file with the entire planet, or a way to combine .map files into larger ones. Thank you.
The honest answer is I don’t know, but given that some of the .map files for individual countries are already larger than 1Gb I suspect it would be very difficult if not impossible to create and use a single .map file for the entire planet.
My map generation server already cannot generate some of the files (it crashes with a Java memory error), I have to get the largest country files from http://download.mapsforge.org/maps/ instead.
I would recommend asking on the Mapsforge Github discussions page for the best chance of getting a good answer!
I personally use them with Locus on my Android phone
Hope that helps!

Hi, thanks for you work! But…
I would recommend removing the Crimea map from the “Russia” section. Legally, this is not true. This is the Ukrainian territory that was occupied by Russia in 2014. This situation can be understood as consent to the illegal actions of the government of the Russian Federation.
Thank you for pointing this out. I’m not sure how this came to be – the Ukraine extract I use definitely includes Crimea so I have removed it from the Russia section.
Thanks again
Ian
Do your maps include elevation data in the form of contour lines? Are there any screenshots available of these maps?
As I understand it, OpenStreepMaps data doesn’t contain elevation data – any apps using OSM maps but displaying elevation data will be getting that data from elsewhere, for example SRTM.
How the maps look depend on the app being used to display them and its settings. The map files contain the same data you see if you view it at https://www.openstreetmap.org/ but it is up to your chosen app (for example Locus or OruxMaps) on how much of this information is displayed.
I hope this helps!

Hi ian,
Map of Czech Republic is corrupted. I can not open it in Locus. It had aprox. 370MB previously. It has half of the size right now.
Are you able to fix it?
I’ll have a look through the geofabrik source before I start the next map generation cycle and add in any new countries they’re offering, thanks for letting me know 🙂
Ian
Hi,
thank you for the maps.
Map of England doesnt work for me (version: September 10, 2020). Locus doesnt show it at all. Older map version (I dont know which one) was working and it had 2 times bigger size.
Hello,
Im using Locus… I have downloaded map of Thailand. Is there english language too in the map? I cannot switch it in Locus.
Thanks, Martin

Hello
With which program can you visualize a mapsforge .map map. Thanks in advance
Hello there
If you look at this link there are many apps that use mapsforge maps: https://github.com/mapsforge/mapsforge/blob/master/docs/Mapsforge-Applications.md
I personally use them with Locus on my Android phone
Hope that helps!

Hi Pablo
I’m in the middle of a map generating cycle (usually takes 2-3 weeks) but when it is finished I will look at fixing the map for the Czech Republic.
Thanks
